Thank YOU for who you ARE and what you DO

One of your members stopped to help me this Sunday morning with a flat tire.

He was on his way to meet his wife at Trinity Church, and was running late;
but didn’t hesitate to stop and help me out when he saw me stranded on
Dunckel Rd. Continue reading

SPORTS MINISTRY: God is on the MOVE!

submitted by:  Elika Fisher, Head of Children & Sports Ministries

Three years ago God gave me a brief devotional to share at our volleyball league focusing on the different Fruit of the Spirit from Galatians 5.  As I shared each week, I left people with a question or thought – something to think about throughout the week.  This past fall one of the players from that season had signed up to serve in Sports ministry.  I wanted to know what God had been doing in his life, so I sat down to meet with him and asked about his story.  Continue reading

Bingham Blog: Helen Gets a New Student

submitted by: Jim Purvis

Elise and Amya.

When Helen and I arrived at Bingham today with Elise and Mike (it was just Helen and me last week), Karen filled Elise and Mike in on the news about Bingham. She had more details this week; she knew to which schools the children were going. Continue reading

The Challenge

contributed by: Anne Cody

Last November, over 100 Trinity family members attended a two-week introduction to making disciples called Disciple Making Principles and Practices.  After learning about discipling and trying out some practical methods in the course, the group was challenged to pray about who God had in mind for each of them to walk alongside as mutual disciples following Jesus.  The following is from a recent e-mail from one of the people who took the challenge.

Hi, Anne—Thought you might be interested to hear about how God worked to bring someone to me for a relationship – we have begun meeting and the focus is on Jesus!  I had noticed a younger woman crying at church months ago. Continue reading

Bingham Blog: Karen Confirms the Bad News

submitted by: Jim Purvis

Today when we got to Bingham, Karen confirmed what we had heard in the news: Bingham Elementary School was going to close at the end of the school year. It’s very sad. As Karen said, there are so many relationships that are going to be severed between the school and the community—Sparrow Hospital, just across the street, has a Christmas present program for Bingham students, Continue reading

Making Disciples!

Submitted by three women who are fulfilling the great commission RIGHT HERE in Lansing:

Two of us are slowly going thru the Christopher Adsit book, Personal Disciplemaking, from the Disciplemaking Principles and Practices course Trinity offered last fall.  The other member of our threesome already has a disciple she is working with—the woman from the Laroy-Froh community she led to Christ last September!—so she has needed to go thru the book faster and is doing it on her own. A Day at LaRoy Froh: After School Homework Help & Power House

Submitted by: Erica

On Wednesday I had the opportunity and privilege to visit LaRoy Froh. I was not sure what to expect, but after spending a day there it exceeded my expectations regarding my experience.  Don’t get me wrong, I knew I would enjoy my time there, but after leaving I was left with the silly things each child would say, how much they wanted to do their homework and how they just wanted someone that was willing to help.  Continue reading

Bingham Blog: Martha Has a Breakthrough

submitted by: Jim Purvis

Martha and me.

When we got to Bingham today, Helen asked me if I had brought my camera. “Yes,” I said. “Do you want me to take a picture of you and Martha?” she asked. “I don’t think you have a picture with the two of you together.” Continue reading

Amazing Food Drop Experience

Contributed by: Phil Posthuma

A women in our congregation came to the food drop to deliver boxes with a group of her friends. Unfortunately, she was the only one to show up. Knowing she would need help she called her son to come and assist her. He came to the Food Drop that day even though he does not come to church and is addicted to drugs. Continue reading

Bingham Blog: Spring Fever

submitted by: Jim Purvis

Today was the first time back to Bingham in three weeks. As usual, Helen and I carpooled with Elise and Mike, and on the way to the school we all joked that we might have to re-introduce ourselves to our students. But our fears were groundless; when tutoring time came around, our students rushed up to us with their workbooks and seemed glad to see us. Continue reading
